1 Kozuru, Gen AGANO & TAKATORI Famous Ceramics of Japan 2
Tokyo Kodansha International 1981 0870114549 / 9780870114540 First Edition Hardcover Very Good in Good+ dust jacket
Ex-library book, but still in quite good condition - laminated cover and usual ex-lib type markings - jacket attached to book. Light edgewear/edge wrinkling to laminate and jacket, light soiling. Laminate has caused some creases to jacket and laminate and is also partially loosened around edges. 44 pages. "Though northern Kyushu is most famous for Imari porcelains, there is a tradition of Korean inspired stoneware. The Agano and Takatori kilns epitomise this legacy, as does the well-known Karatsu ware. Influenced by the Kyoto tea ceremony taste, Agano and Takatori nonetheless maintained a vigour, strength, humbleness and spontaneity that, over the centuries continued to reflect the Korean origin of these kilns' first potters. " [845]; Folio 13" - 23" tall
