A biography of Catharine Parr Traill, a pioneering woman best known for her book The Backwoods of Canada which gives a histoircal account of life in Upper Canada after 1832. Catharine and Thomas Traill emigrated to Canada in 1832 and built a home outside of Peterborough in Upper Canada. She wrote a dozen books on her experiences.
