Hardcover is clean & tight, minimal wear, small inscription on blank endpage. Jacket has light edgewear and a couple small tears. 121 pages. B/w Illustrations. Duke Redbird was one of the first voice's of Indian protest heard in the sixties. As editor of The Thunderbird, Canada's first national Indian newspaper, he bitterly attacked the white's for their cruel repression of his people. As a poet he revived the archetypal images of his people, and exposed the deep, bitter humiliation they suffer in Canada. He tells of his own long search for the meaning of his Indian identity. This biography is a unique and thought provoking portrait of a unique Canadian. Illustrated with collages throughout by the author. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall
