Little Brown & Co 1967 First Edition Hardcover Near Fine in Good dust jacket
Little Brown & Co 1967, stated first US edition. By the author of I Capture the Castle. Hardcover has very light edgewear, bumping to corners/spine ends, a few tiny spots, and light soiling to outer edge of pages. Pages are clean and intact, with no markings other than old price sticker on endpage, light age tanning to interior. Jacket has several small edge tears and chips, fairly heavy scuffing, light soiling and age tanning. Not price clipped. During a summer festival in an English spa town, Miles Quentin, a distinguished actor and his devoted wife Jill become friendly with the local Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Thornton and his family. These intelligent people are seemingly untroubled but the surface of their lives is deceptive. Even Thornton's lively teenagers have unusual problems which are only brought to light after the Quentins return to the London theatre world and the Thorntons to their Westminster house. Then the story becomes a far cry from the conventional love story in which loyalty may prove more important than love, or it could be described as a story of different kinds of love....; 8vo - over 7" - 9" Tall
